The President of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Honour Sirawoo has congratulated Rivers Angels and FC Ifeanyi Ubah for winning this year’s female and male versions of the Federation Cup.
Rivers Angels edged past Bayelsa Queens on penalties after regulation time ended one goal apiece.
FC Ifeanyi Ubah beat Nasarawa United 5-4 on penalties after both sides failed to score in open play.
Sirawoo, who presented the winning medals to Rivers Angels commended the ladies for winning the Federation Cup for a record 7th title, thus justify the confidence reposed in them by the Rivers State government.
The SWAN boss commended FC Ifeanyi Ubah for joining the league of Federation Cup winners, the oldest trophy in the country.
According to him, the onus is now on FC Ifeanyi Ubah, who will represent Nigeria in the CAF Confederation Cup next year to do the nation proud by going all the way.
He tasked other continental representatives Rangers, Rivers United and Wikki Tourists to represent Nigeria positively.
While congratulating the proprietor of FC Ifeanyi Ubah, who is also a patron of SWAN, Dr Ifeanyi Ubah, Sirawoo called on wealthy Nigerian to emulate him and contribute greatly to the growth and development of sports in Nigeria.
