For the past twenty-five years,


China Acheru has been the voice of Sports from Rivers State and out across Nigeria

His style was heavily influenced by the broadcasting greats such as Mitchel Obi and the late Mazi Njoku and Yinka Craig.

China has embraced Social Media,

digitalising his message through Twitter, Facebook, Youtube and Instagram to reach an ever-growing information-hungry audience.

 
His dedication to delivering the most important and instant news to his loyal fan base hugely benefited Dolphins Football Club where he served as Media Manager for 13 years.
 
His role as their Media Manager significantly raised the clubs profile and brought to the attention of world media the excellent talent at the club.

A River State man since birth, China Acheru has remained loyal to his heritage.

CHINA

Broadcasting was not China’s first calling. Like all young Nigerian’s the pressure to be involved in the oil industry found him studying Geology, but the desire to be a journalist was too intense. 


A few years after graduation he started work writing for the South South Express Newspapers as a Sports Reporter.


He also had work experience with CTL Cable TV in 2002 as Sports Presenter. In November 2002, he joined Silverbird’s Rhythm 93.7 FM as Sports Reporter and then producer.


After four years, in 2006, moved to Lagos with Goal Newspaper as sub-editor, then Kickoffnigeria.com as a Senior Journalist.


On return to Port Harcourt in 2009 he joined up with Cool/ Wazobia FM as Head of Sports in 2010 and then Today FM in 2013.

He is also a Blogger where he runs Nigeria’s biggest football blog, www.naijafootball247.com.


He has served as Secretary and Financial Secretary of the Rivers State Council of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, and became Media Manager of Dolphins Football Club in 2003


 and is currently the Chairman of Nigerian Professional League Clubs Media Managers Association.
