Sector IV is a Nigerian Romance Novel written by Abigail Anaba

Summary of the book: The book Sector IV is centered around Onyiyechi a young, promising girl that aspired to further her education and become a better person than the average girl in her neighborhood but life in it’s own way happened to her.

During the period of her education the Nigeria and Biafra war began making her return from school to the village where she met the supposed love of her life.

After she met Duke life felt pleasant and worth living again and they decided to get married.

It was on the wedding day where she got the news that Duke died due to the Nigerian Civil war and after this was sorrow, death, confusion, panic and frustration for Onyiyechi.

My thoughts on the Main Characters

Onyiyechi is the main character of the book, the experiences in her life is overwhelming and coupled with the fact that who she imagined loved her so much only had bad intentions for her.

My Favorite Character is Okwududua. He had a very kind heart he loved Onyiyechi wholeheartedly even with the circumstances surrounding their marriage and I don’t think he got the love he deserved from her.

The book is written in a third person point of view. The author’s writing style is really creative which made me picture the scenes of the story in my head.

Theme of the book

Betrayal: This is the greatest theme in the book. Onyiyechi was betrayed by the supposed love of her life who only had the intentions to destroy her life which he succeeded in. She had to marry who she didn’t love because she was pregnant for him and had to cover her shame. She also ran into the forest with Okwududua where she had the craziest experiences which wouldn’t have happened if she still stayed with her mother.

Uncertainty: This book revealed that even in love a person can’t be sure of what the intention of their partner is. Only time and circumstances can prove the love a person has for another and this was evident in the life of Onyiyechi in her relationship with Duke and Okwududua.

Love: This is a major theme in this book it shows how love affects a person decision and this is evident in the life of Onyiyechi regardless that Duke had died a long while ago she still made decisions based on what she felt his opinion would be.

Like and Dislikes: I like the style in which the author wrote the book in it is captivating the more you read the more you want to read as more dramatic situations unfold.

I don’t like that after Onyiyechi was accepted by Okwududua even with the circumstances surrounding their marriage she didn’t stop considering Duke.

Okwududua showed her and her son love but she didn’t reciprocate the love which he gave.

Recommendations

I would highly recommend this book to anybody it’s packed with lessons on how life decisions affect a person’s totality and it’s very interesting to read

Even as a person that is not so excited by reading I found it very interesting to read through to the end
