Wrestling: Oborududu, 2 others makes Nigeria Proud at Spanish Grand Prix

Rio bound Nigeria wrestlers, Blessing Oborududu (63Kg), Odunayo Adekuoroye (53Kg) and Aminat Adeniyi (58Kg) and won 1 silver and 2 bronze medal respectively at the just concluded Spanish Grand Prix Wrestling championship in Madrid.
 
In the 63kg category, 7x Africa Champion Oborududu lost 1 – 1 to Belarus Maryia Mamashuk by criteria in the finals and won a silver.
 
Enroute the final, Captain Oborududu saw off Swedish Henna Johansson in the semi finals by 15-0 points, and Yekaterina Larionova (KAZ) in the quarter finals by 11-0.
 
World number 3, Adekuoroye after seeing off India’s Babita Kumar by technical fall, 10-0 in the round 8, fell to Venezuela’ Betzabeth Arguello by 8-10 in the quarter finals.
 
The commonwealth champion Adekuoroye bounced back in Repechage to beat Patricia Bermudez (ARG) 10 -0 and best Russian Stalvira Orshush 9 – 0 to win a bronze.
 
In the 58Kg, Africa champion Aminat Adeniyi in repechage defeated Mimi Hristova(Bulgaria) by pinfall and also beat Johanna Mattson of Sweden 4-3 to win bronze.
 
Earlier, the male freestyle wrestlers, Amas Daniel and Soso Tamara failed to win any medal.
