Nigerian, Gift Willy leads the West Africa Golf Tour Championship after shooting a four under 68 in the first round at IBB International Golf & Country Club in Abuja, Nigeria.
Willy who posted 5 birdies and 3 bogies on his round one scorecard entered the 2018 last event 6th in the West Africa Golf Tour Order of Merit.
The 34 years old has regularly featured among the top players in the Tour although he is still to win a tournament, something he is looking forward to as stated at the previous event.
Three players Sunday Olapade, Kamalo Bako and Visitor Mapwanya tied for second place at 1-under 71 while the defending champion Vincent Torgah finished course par 72 and came fifth place.
As the season finale, the Tour Championship brings together the top thirty players from the West Africa Golf Tour Order of Merit. 25 out of them will earn TOUR cards for the upcoming season.
