Radio Nigeria Treasure FM on Tuesday completely annihilated Wave FM 5-0 in the SWAN Henry Kalio Cup.

Stanley Nwoghalu scored a double brace and then Igwechi Onwuchukwu made it 5 to send the hapless Wave 91.7 FM team back to their bases with their tails between their legs.

Wave FM, the whipping boys from the last edition also lost their opening game 1-0 to defending champions, Tide.

Team Manager of the side, Queen John was very disappointed at the end of the game and could not utter any words to the press.

When she finally found her voice she told ChinaAcheru.com that the team they were up against was very good.

It was a disappointing loss. We expected a tough match because the team we played against was very good as I watched their game against the billionaire Cool/Wazobia/ Info side so I knew we had to step up our game,” Queen John said.

Sadly, we are below par in all aspects of the game and we paid dearly for it.”

Player/ Manager of the high flying Treasure FM side, Benson Clement was full of joy after the game.

Speaking like a Nigeria Premier League coach, he first thanked God for the win and an injury free game.

I am also happy with the big win and the clean sheet because going into the game we knew it was not going to be easy,” Clement told ChinaAcheru.com.

We have always believed in our abilities to overcome any team that comes our way which was the case today.

Despite the score line, I do not think Wave FM is a bad side, just that they are not coordinated. So far we have six points from two games and sit top of the group which I think is a good sign,” Clement said.

For scoring four goals in the game, Stanley Nwoghalu received the Most Valuable Player Award of a bottle of Champagne and a cash gift.

Today FM and Tide battle to the death

It took a last minute equaliser from Victor Kwame Sampong, a.k.a. Ghanaman to give Today FM a point as Tide/ Independent monitor rued their lost chances in one of the most exciting games in the tournament so far.

GhanaMan opened scores early for Today FM through an Ikechukwu Chukwu assist but the champions equalised through Junior Ahondo.

At the restart, Junior Ahondo got his brace putting the Tide/ Monitor ahead and when it seemed like they were running away with the lead even as Today FM had Emmanuel Gbenga sent off the equaliser came.

It was virtually the last kick of the game and GhanaMan threw himself into the action and rather than go down he struggled with all the energy he had to put the ball behind Gabriel Nwanetanya who had previously registered a performance worthy of a Man of the Match outing.

Victor Kwame Sampong of Today FM won the Most Valuable Player Award for the game.

Team Manager of Today FM, Emeka Dennar praised the character of his side, especially as they were one man down for most of the second half.

It was a difficult game for my team, especially when he had a man sent off. I also praise the character of my boys to come back and eventually snatch a draw,” Dennar told ChinaAcheru.com.

At some point we dominated the game, missed so many scoring chances. We were not supposed to lose the game because we were on top for most times. I am satisfied,” Dennar said.
