Cool/Wazobia/Info team appreciate their fans after qualification
In the first game of the day, Daar Communications will lock horns with Radio UST in the first game of the day while Garden City Radio will try their luck against Radio Rivers in the final round of matches for their group.
Rivers State Television have already qualified as they amassed nine points from 4 games and Daar Communications on 4 points need a win against Radio UST who have 3 points from 3 games.
If Daar wins, they will wait on the result of the game between Garden City Radio and Radio Rivers.
Garden City Radio have 4 points and need also to win and score more goals than Daar Communications while Radio Rivers on three points will be hoping for a draw in the first game while they hope they can beat Garden City Radio to qualify.
Treasure FM, Cool Nigeria Info already through
Treasure FM are already through to the semi final having beaten Tide/ Independent Monitor via a walk over.
Treasure FM finished their group with 12 points from 4 games.
Captain of the Treasure FM side, Benson Clement described the walk over as disappointing for his team.
“I was disappointed we did not get to play against Tide. But the positive is that we finished as group leaders with twelve points.
“Now our attention is on who we meet in the semi finals. We are battle ready and focused. Our ambition is to get to the final and win but we will take one game at a time,” Clement told ChinaAcheru.com.
The Lebanese billionaires won their first ever game at the SWAN Henry Kalio Cup, beating Today FM 1-0 on Monday.
Incidentally, that win was enough to take them to the semi finals, something that elated coach, Ufuoma Egbamuno.
“I am super excited and at same time relieved. We knew all we needed to do was win and go through. Our strategy from the onset was not to concede. We’ve been guilty of going too far forward and exposing our defence line. So technical team which includes Koffi Bartels decided to go for safety first.
“That worked well in first half and we even created great goal scoring chances. But my players wanted to be Barca or Arsenal like and pass ball into the net. I noticed that and just before half time instructed Charles “Ronaldo” Hart to shoot if he’s close to the post. I reiterated same instruction at half time and it was no surprise when we scored at start of second half,” Egbamuno told ChinaAcheru.com.
“The beautiful thing about the victory was not just my first win in 2 seasons of the competition but the fact that the win ensured we would be amongst top 4 teams of the tournament. Now our fans can believe that indeed CoolWazobiaInfo and Foskolo Guardiola are not just about rants on air, they are the real deal.”
Emeka Dennar, coach of Today FM said they had issues before and during the game.
“I congratulate them for winning and qualifying but we as a team did not get it right,” Emeka Dennar told ChinaAcheru.com.
“We started without a goalkeeper as he arrived after the game had started and when he was thrown in, he wasn’t in the best of shapes.
“We had our chances though. I accept the result but feel disappointed we could not go beyond the group stage.”
