Port Harcourt was stunned and in awe of the designs of Peace Okorite Ayotamuno, an enterprising designer emerging from the Garden City in the just concluded L’afrique fashion fest Nigeria.
This event took place in Port Harcourt in November with many talented fashion brands showcasing their creations on the runway at the L. A. Kings Event Centre.
In line with this year’s theme; the African edition, the founder of Pelma Fashion Ms Peace was very noticeable among the line-up as she showcased her collection titled “Unique” which brought out the uniqueness of African styles to prominence

In displaying her collection, the mother of two blew away the audience’s minds with the audacity and creativity in her African style with the love and connection between a mother and her daughter.
Having been inspired by the birth of her daughter, Mabel, she put a personal interpretation to the designs that wowed everyone at the venue.
“African prints sit well and tell our story as Africans so I try as much as possible to engage exclusively in our local fabrics, prints and materials to interpret my creations and designs,” she explained to chinaacheru.com.
The collection featured beautiful African prints combined with nets crafted into lovely styles for kiddies.
“Remember I told you this particular collection “unique” was inspired by my daughter, so the designs fashionably showcase the attitudes of kids who are happy, having fun, love colours and more which is how I see her when she adorns my designs as my first model.

Indeed, the colours and patterns connect us to our origin”, she added.
The collection had luxurious gowns, playsuits, tops and skirts. Most of these outfits can be worn to suit different events, from birthdays to casual outings to special occasions.
Ms Peace believes Pelma Fashion is the platform to interpret her zeal in bringing the originality and uniqueness of African styles to the world while still maintaining modern trends.
