Afang soup, Super Eagles, and a trip to Uyo

By Femi Balogun

Uyo again!!!!! Don’t be alarmed this time as it’s the Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers against the Benin Republic.

It’s a team with our former coach Gernot Rohr, so, hopefully, it’s not a case of an angry ex (he already beat us during the World Cup Qualifiers, the anger of an ex knows no bounds sometimes).

Back to my gist, Uyo again, this time the hotel I was lodged in was amazing. The last time I was in this town I stayed in a semi-poultry, as the room was that bad. A toilet is supposed to be a peaceful place where you connect with nature, but that toilet was a portal to hellfire, I could communicate with the devil.

Well back to my Uyo story, after settling down on Friday it was time for lunch, our destination was Discovery Park.

Discovery Park gave vibes of food & nature. It was like a properly cleaned and used Isaac Boro Park. I placed an order for Afang Soup, it was one of the best I had eaten in a long time (I shared tears of joy while eating).

Enough of my food tales even though I missed the first press conference because of food. It was supposed to be the Benin Republic press conference, but I made up with the Nigeria press conference. This time I got my press tag, it wasn’t without stress or arguments I don’t know why Nigerians have to struggle every time for things that should be easy.

The press conference was quick, I made content for social media and we returned to the hotel, where I ate like a bandit. Have you tried Suya and bread with juice? It is a heavenly combination.

Saturday morning, the rain in Uyo woke me up. Every time I come here it always rains, I don’t know how the seasons work here but I think it’s more rain than sunshine.

Well, this is where I drop my keyboard as it is time to go see what the Super Eagles have in store for Nigerians today, Loss, Draw or Win only 90 minutes can tell.
