{"id":58,"date":"2016-07-06T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-07-06T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/china.chinaacheru.com\/wp\/2016\/07\/06\/need-for-respect-in-public-spaces\/"},"modified":"2025-11-02T12:02:09","modified_gmt":"2025-11-02T12:02:09","slug":"need-for-respect-in-public-spaces","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chinaacheru.com\/staging\/need-for-respect-in-public-spaces\/","title":{"rendered":"Need for respect in public spaces"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<span class=\"imgPusher\" style=\"float:left;height:0px\"><\/span><span style=\"width:auto;position:relative;float:left;max-width:100%;clear:left;margin-top:0px\"><a><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.chinaacheru.com\/uploads\/1\/0\/1\/5\/10158091\/7695049.jpg\" style=\"margin-top: 5px;margin-bottom: 10px;margin-left: 0px;margin-right: 10px;none;max-width:100%\" alt=\"Picture\" class=\"galleryImageBorder wsite-image\" title=\"Need for respect in public spaces\"><\/a><span style=\"caption-side: bottom;font-size: 90%;margin-top: -10px;margin-bottom: 10px;text-align: center\" class=\"wsite-caption\"><\/span><\/span> <\/p>\n<div class=\"paragraph\"><strong>By Blackice<\/strong><br \/>\u00a0<br \/>So I got to the state secretariat this morning in the rain and went up the elevator to follow up my letters of invite that I had submitted more than a week ago.<\/p>\n<p>As soon as the elevator door opened, I was greeted by the most horrible smell ever experienced and it came from the toilet which was directly opposite the elevators.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>I managed to get out quickly and practically ran to the office I was headed and waited for more than 2 hours for officials to arrive at work.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>Mind you, I got to the secretariat complex as early as 8.30am.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>In all the offices that I visited, no officer was around so I had no choice than to wait until 11.am<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>Now sitting and waiting and quietly thinking my day through, a man dressed in an attire that made me think he could be a pastor walked in and sat by my side.\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>We exchanged pleasantries and almost immediately started playing music on his phone (classical).<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>Let me break to say this&#8230;.I am a lover of classical music, but should he have?<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>Now my question is&#8230;If a Muslim does same thing in same airspace as he was, how would he have felt?<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>If I also start playing my hip hop or reggae or those very loud music how would I appear to him?<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>My point is I think we should do onto others what we wish others onto us&#8230;<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>I am a believer and a follower of Christ and I make bold to say it any and everywhere&#8230; but I\u2019d rather we do not throw our preferences into other peoples\u2019 faces.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>I am Blackice and I think to make my opinions clear<\/div>\n<hr style=\"width:100%;clear:both\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Blackice\u00a0So I got to the state secretariat this morning in the rain and went up the elevator to follow up my letters of invite that I had submitted more than a week ago.
